Job description
We’re on a mission to help recruitment agencies and in-house teams go to zero admin and unlock more hires with less hassle. Our AI-powered platform is built by a team that previously exited a disruptive recruitment tech company - and now, we're rewriting the rules of hiring again.
With a strong foundation already in place, we're scaling fast and looking for a VP of Engineering to lead the charge as we evolve Carv’s platform, culture, and team to the next level.
What do we look for?
We’re looking for a VP of Engineering who thrives at the intersection of leadership, technical depth, and innovation. Someone who can lead with clarity, scale with intention, and still roll up their sleeves when needed. You're a strong believer in high standards, fast feedback loops, and the power of culture in building world-class engineering teams.
You’re likely someone who:
Balances product intuition with engineering discipline
Has scaled SaaS teams and systems, and knows what good looks like
Communicates clearly across functions, from code to company vision
Sees AI not as a buzzword, but as a lever for real productivity
Loves turning chaos into clarity, and challenges into momentum
Builds trust fast and earns it over time through delivery and integrity
Thinks big, but knows that great execution starts small
Your Responsibilities?
Engineering Leadership & Team Management
Build and scale a high-performing engineering team (15+ engineers), fostering a culture of ownership, growth, and collaboration.
Drive hiring, coaching, and performance management to attract and retain top technical talent.
Partner with the SVP of Product & Engineering to define org structure, roles, and strategic priorities.
Instill best-in-class engineering management practices, aligned with Carv’s goals and culture.
Product Delivery & Technical Excellence
Ensure consistent, high-quality product delivery in close partnership with Product and Design.
Champion modern development processes and best practices (Agile, CI/CD, intra-day releases).
Balance speed and quality while managing technical debt and platform scalability.
Innovation & AI Adoption
Bring a forward-thinking mindset to how we build software, championing the use of AI in development.
Drive experimentation with approaches like "vibe coding" and other AI-driven dev methodologies.
Stay ahead of trends and ensure Carv’s tech stack evolves with our ambitions.
Platform Reliability & Security
Own the stability, scalability, and security of our SaaS platform (hosted on GCP, microservices architecture).
Lead architectural initiatives that enhance platform resilience and performance.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR), especially within the recruitment domain.
Strategic Execution & Leadership
Translate business goals into engineering strategy and roadmaps.
Manage budgets and resources effectively while reporting on delivery and performance metrics.
Be a strong voice in the ELT, ensuring engineering is tightly aligned with Carv’s broader mission.
Your Mission
You’ll shape the team structure, delivery model, and tech culture while ensuring our platform remains scalable, secure, and innovative. From driving delivery excellence to championing AI-powered development, this is a hands-on leadership role for someone ready to make an outsized impact.
Our offer to you
You’re not starting from scratch - you’re stepping into a company that’s already found strong early traction, with a leadership team that has done this before. You’ll play a defining role in shaping the next chapter of Carv.
Here’s what else you can expect:
Unlimited paid time off
Competitive base salary
Company stock options
MacBook Pro
Personal development budget
The thrill of building something truly category-defining
Job requirements
8+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience in a B2B SaaS environment.
Proven track record leading and scaling engineering teams (15+ engineers).
Strong technical foundation as a former IC and deep understanding of SaaS architectures (GCP, APIs, databases, microservices).
Experience delivering software using Agile methodologies and modern DevOps practices.
Strong communicator and cross-functional collaborator.
Enthusiastic about AI’s potential in engineering workflows and curious about how it can unlock speed and creativity.
Bonus: Familiarity with the recruitment tech ecosystem or HR technology space.
